Business shmizmess. I want my crossroads.

I thought it was a very well run business meeting. No overthrows.

Although I think Ray Valdez suffered from a lack of public appearance and PR support. He received the least votes in two elections. He's a great guy, I just don't think many people remember him all that well anymore.

He needs a new manager!

Its a shame that many Crossroaders who took the membership class, and committed to being at this meeting weren't. I know some had extenuating circumstances, but others just plain skipped. We can do better than this. We made a committment to this congregation when we became members. Its a sign that Crossroads has a lot of growing-up to do.

I seriously think we need to change the requirements on here to mandate a sign-in name for leaving a comment. I hate the "anonymous" moniker. In fact, I henceforth don all anonymous users "anony-mouse". :) Mice run around silently leaving their evidence, but don't let us see them. Hehe...

Anyway, speaking of "biz", I do agree with the "anony-mouse" comment, nonetheless. I think it is a shame that many people consider the business meeting a day off. It's a pivotal event to get a pulse on where the church is going, and where we are and have been. It's like paying taxes, then not participating in the voting process. Especially if you're a member, you should be there. No matter what. I'm not a member, but I always go because it's my church. Besides, you get free cake for showing up!

Anyhow, I'm going into a rant. But I affirm what "anony-mouse" said. We need to exhibit maturity and ambition. We need to understand that there are 45 year old men with 5 kids, 50 hour jobs and a wife, with a mother-in-law living in the rental apt. that commit more to our church than many of us do. It makes me evaluate myself.

Mr. Ed -

Why can't people be anonymous?

No one seems to care but you. Let it go.

Mr Ed, you seem to be the only person on here who likes to see himself "talk." The rest of us just don't care as much. This is a free country we may do as we please. If you want everyone to know it is you, then go ahead. But if we want to be anonymous that is our choice. Don't be so critical of others.

I couldn't have said it better myself. I do like to see myself talk and then watch as others talk about me. Call it therapy.

Hehe, this is funny. I now have TWO impersonators. The "Mr. Ed" comment without my picture is not me. Just so everyone knows.

Anyway, no I don't like to see myself "talk". I'm long-winded. I do talk a lot. Lack of communication is not my downside; ask my wife. My feelings ain't hurt, but you sure are proving the "Crossroads has a lot of growing-up to do" comment. Talk about being critical; you return fire for fire, eh?

So, I try to have fun while doing this blogging, and apparently there's a lot of people out there who can't just take a pill and relax.

Did you notice how we're not even talking about the theme of this thread? It started with a conversation about going to the business meeting an investing our time into the church. As to before, I'm not being "critical", I'm just making it a point that I like to know who I'm talking to, or reading an opinion from. At least Hilary, Rachel, Amy and others sign their name. It's just a congenial protocol. I've said something about it twice; I say it all light-heartedly. You sound like you're ready to slap me or sumthin! :) *turns cheek*

Have a splendid day "anony-mouse" :)

P.S. Don't hate me just because I type faster. lol

Mr. Ed (the real Mr. Ed, not eddie willing iii, or the fake Mr. Ed),

Being the man of words that you are, you should know that by saying you "type faster" you are making a critical gramatical error. For in fact, "faster" is an adjective, used to modify a noun. "Type," however, is a verb because it conotes action. You would have been more accurate to say that you could "type more quickly."

Sorry Eddie. I couldn't help myself. I don't read this blog with great frequency (unless directed here). But with all the talk about your bloviating, I thought some witty banter might be apropros. And being that I am a teacher, I am keen to improper adjective and adverb use. I also understand that starting sentences with "and" and "but," as I have just done, is completely acceptable and is a matter of style and not a gramatical faux pas.

I should put this blog on my everyday read list. It seems the conversation (if this qualifies) is rather hiemal to the mind but altogether piquant. Since it is Friday, I have some time to devote trifling persiflage.

Cheers,
HazMatt
